Today there was a hearing on Canada’s Bill C-16, which amends the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code to add gender identity and gender expression to the list of prohibited grounds of discrimination.
Here is Meghan Murphy’s testimony:
As well, here is an article by Murphy explaining what is wrong with the bill.

Absolutely. I really hope they actually have listened to what she said, it couldn’t be clearer.

Thanks very much for this. I shared it in the Facebook group Gender Critical Discussion of U.S. “Gender Identity” Laws where we are following developments on gender identity related laws in the US and elsewhere. Also, thanks so much for your great blog!

It is worth watching the whole thing — but ESPECIALLY from 17:20 to the end. Hilla Kerner of Vancouver Rape Relief and Women’s Shelter speaks in the session with Meghan, and with a man representing a group named “Woman means something”. Hilla’s presentation for Rape Relief is particularly powerful and moving. And stick with the video to the end, because Hilla’s and Meghan’s responses to the questions from the senators are very smart and radical. At the end, there’s an exchange between Senator Serge Joyal and Hilla Kerner that is at once frustrating, enraging (due to Joyal’s self-righteousness) AND amusing and encouraging (due to Kerner’s scathing intelligence in response). Meghan Murphy fielded questions with aplomb as well — I don’t know how anyone can hear these two women and still think that Bill C-16 will be in any way helpful legislation.

Yeah, that senator was /is a major A**hole. I’m so proud of Meghan and Hilla and Purple Sage and of everyone who works diligently against the misogynist movement called “gender identity.” I hope it crashes soon.

So nice to see an actual feminist message getting out into the public sphere. Megan Murphy goes to town in a Canadian Senate hearing.
